Let me tell you, this morning's 5.30am wake up didn't exactly put a grin on my face. Grinch more alike! But landing to sunny Budapest a couple of hours later, after having survived the hassle of the travel, definitely did. After flying over the snowy mountains, Hungary greeted us with a full-on sunshine.
The two of them have been here before, Paps even numerable times. But for me it was a first. So far so good! We've been circling around Danube, enjoying delicious local lunch served by the Jesuits - sausage soup coupled with some sort of potato-pancakes and beans. We also went to a local food market, where we found a myriad of booths filled with all colorful, juicy fruits and veggies imaginable. Not to forget the respectable chunks of meat, hams and sausages, hanging and piling up on top of each other around every other corner!
It's a bit warmer here than in the Nordics, especially in the sun. My conscious gamble with packing light was successful, as I'm mostly prepared with skirts and sneakers. Tomorrow and Saturday will be dedicated to tasting as many local dishes as we can, and indulging ourselves with a traditional treat - Hungarian spa.
