AN EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER OF A WEEK

Coat/Knight, Turtleneck & Pants/H&M, Bag/Stella McCartney, Shoes/Givenchy, Sunnies/Celine

Hello Sunday!

This week was emotionally hard. In the beginning of the week I hit a fairly bad low, which got to the point that it was close that I couldn’t get out of bed. Or meet people. Or, eat. Even replying to messages felt like an enormous challenge. It caught me by surprise, and I phoned confused, crying filled calls to mum. I’ve been feeling very low before, and I was quite afraid to end up back there again. But towards the weekend I got better, and back to my usual self. Apparently just an unforeseen glitch.

The weekend was wonderful. I decided that even though I’m buried in schoolwork up to my neck, I will shut it off for two days. Just to keep myself sane. And so I did! On both Friday and Saturday evening I managed to meet some old friends I haven’t seen in ages. ”Adult friendship is two people saying ”I haven’t seen you in forever, we should really meet” until one of you dies” – but not this time! On Saturday I travelled to Drottningholm for a magical Christmas market. Or, it would’ve been magical, if the transport would’ve worked! We walked on a roadside for 2km just to get there, and froze in a bus stop for half an hour with thousand others on the way back. But what a beautiful place!

Do you guys recognize the coat? It’s the same as I’ve had in a couple of earlier posts, just the other side up. The black turtleneck which was on my wish list I found from H&M men’s department! A good shopping hack is always to check the guys  side for basics. For some reason it seems that their products are often made of better material, this one being for instance 100% merino wool!

Hopefully everyone has been enjoying their weekend. Best of luck for Monday!

MY CHRISTMAS DIET – CRAZINESS?

Friday night cookings @home

Call me crazy.

It’s the time of the year when the most delicious desserts (saffron buns, gingerbread, christmas chocolates) are turning up to the market. And what do I decide to do?

Go on a diet for nearly the whole December – until the 22nd, when I fly back home. Why? Lately I’ve been feeling exhausted and tired, having difficulties with balanced eating, and probably lacking a thousand vitamins. It’s also nicer to treat oneself around Christmas not having eaten too much of all those goodies already.

So how will my December diet look like?

First of all, no added sugar.

No white flour or dairy. This does’t include eggs.

No meat. This doesn’t include fish.

No alcohol.

What will I be eating then?

Fruits. Apples, bananas, pears, kiwis, mandarines, avocados, sharons..

Vegetables. Tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, onions..

Beets. Carrot, Sweet potato, yellow beets, red beets, parsnip, turnips..

Fish & Eggs

Berries

Rye Bread

Tofu

Almond milk

…To name a few.

Let’s see how this goes! I’ll keep you guys updated.

MONDAY OUTFIT + THIS WEEKS PLANS!

Coat/Knight, Turtleneck/Zara, Jeans/Kappahl, Shoes/Vagabond, Bag/Saint Laurent

Good evening!

Today was the first snowy day here. Which was wonderful! Couldn’t help but to feel a childlike enthusiasm as I woke up and saw the snowy roof tops. I had a day off, which in University never means an actual day off, but studying. I managed to fit a quick coffee-and-chat to lunch time with my friend Lotta, which was super nice! Aside from that today has included laundry, food-prepping and a long walk.

What’s going to happen this week?

Tomorrow there’ll be a seminar (yaiks) at 9am, which is the only uni attendance this week. But! As I mentioned, that certainly doesn’t call for vacation. Next Monday I have a large Economic history exam, accompanied by a 10min powerpoint presentation on Tuesday. Prepping will be starting this evening, and the days will be spent largely in the library. I need to do some reading every day, including the weekend, so it’ll be library-sleep-powerwalk-eat week ahead.

The last couple of seminars have gone all right social anxiety / panic wise. We have been able to hold small, couple of minute presentations about our independent studies from our own seats. I’ve gained some confidence, and speaking up doesn’t feel that terrifying from one’s own seat. Still, there are some fears and noises in my head that are trying to gain space. I concentrate on looking at the person I’m speaking to, and sticking to the subject: knowing exactly what I talk about has also helped. As well as saying out loud that hey, I’m a little unsure about this. It’s still a long way to go, but I’m happy with my progress for the time being!

This weeks plans also include booking my Christmas trip to Finland, and planning our family trip to Tallinn during the semester. Very excited for the upcoming holidays, caught myself listening to Justin Biebers ’Mistletoe’ today.

Why did I make a post about this weeks plans, as mine are pretty much as exciting as a snails (Sorry, snail)? Just thought that well, perhaps everything on social media has to be flashy and fabulous. At least a large part of my life is just the regular every day living.
